Contemporary American Theater Festival - Shepherd University - Shepherdstown, West Virginia

The Contemporary American Theater Festival is a Lort D company that produces five original American plays each summer. Two of the plays each season are produced in the new Marinoff Theater.

Phase 1 of the project was completed in 2007 and includes a performance studio, classrooms and offices.

Phase 2 of the project was completed in 2013 and includes art classrooms, a large sculpture studio, an outdoor courtyard equipped for scenery construction and exhibition of large sculpture, and the Marinoff Theater suite.

Phase 2 of the project is certified LEED Silver.

  • The Marinoff Theater is a 186-seat laboratory space with flexible seating where extraordinary care was taken to provide a perfect environment for actors and audiences. The room is silent. There are no distractions. For the duration of the performance the actors control the audience completely. This is a space for the intense, startling drama that CATF produces.
  • Complete catwalks, control room, large stage lighting system, audio system, dressing rooms and green room.
